For Sale: 1957 Ford Thunderbird in Lebanon, Missouri for sale in Lebanon, MO

Vehicle Description When the 1955 Ford Thunderbird debuted in September 1954 for the 1955 model year, the company 's goal was to develop a two-seat luxury automobile that would offer sports car like styling and performance with a level of comfort not found in the offerings of US and foreign car makers.
Marketed as a car of distinction, Ford Motor Company would use the Thunderbird model as a vehicle to chase where automotive market trends were going for the next half century, ending the Thunderbird legacy with a retro-look two-seat roadster that drew heavily on the original car's pedigree.
Ford's third and final year offering of their first-generation Thunderbird arrived at dealer showrooms in September 1956 with a few subtle, yet distinct, changes that would set the final year of the first-generation vehicle apart from the two previous models.
While still built on the 102-inch wheelbase frame, the 1957 model featured a reconfigured front bumper and grill which gave the car a more open and aggressive look.
At the rear, the spare tire was moved back into the trunk compartment thanks to a design change mounting the tire in a vertical position.
With the spare tire no longer on the rear bumper the rear fascia was redesigned along with a new bumper.
The rear fins were thinned, raised and canted slightly outboard to create a more streamlined look.
The Thunderbird script that had been on the rear quarter panels was relocated to the front fenders.
From a mechanical standpoint, Ford kept the 292 cubic inch Y-block V8 as the standard engine for vehicles built with a standard three-speed manual transmission but increased the rated horsepower to 212, an increase of 10 horsepower from the previous model and almost 20 horsepower from the initial 1955 offering.
The 312 cubic inch, 245 horsepower four barrel powerplant remained as the standard engine for the manual transmission with overdrive and automatic transmission cars but additional 312 cubic inch engines with two four barrel carbs and supercharged versions were options! The traditional options of power steering, power brakes, power windows and four-way power seat remained on the order form.
New options for the 1957 model year include a four-way power seat that had a memory function and moved to the rearward position when the ignition was turned off and returned to the preset position when the ignition was turned on and a radio that increased volume as engine noise increased.
This 1957 Ford Thunderbird is a great example of the first generation's final year, showing under 30,000 miles on the odometer.
While we believe this to be the correct mileage, Missouri statutes require car dealers to sell vehicles older than 10 years as mileage exempt and the car is offered as such.
The car features the D code 312 cubic inch, 245 horsepower powerplant with the optional chrome engine dress-up kit.
The data plate is consistent with the appearance of the car, which is finished in Raven Black with a pleated Colonial interior.
Options include power steering, power windows, padded dash and a Town and Country AM radio.
This is a very early car, coming off the Dearborn, MI assembly plant on September 24, 1956.
The data plate indicates the car was ordered by a dealer in the San Jose, CA sales district.
The car has a few minor paint issues as one would expect from a car of this vintage but is very presentable and would be an excellent cornerstone piece for a beginning collector or a great addition to an existing portfolio.
The convertible top frame appears to be in good condition but the canvas is very brittle and would need replacement.
A black porthole top in good condition is also included.

NOTICE Because of the number of vehicles we represent we cannot drive every vehicle for long distances.
These vehicles have been part of static displays for long periods of time, in some cases for decades, and are subject to the flaws and imperfections consistent with that.
While we do our best to disclose all issues we known about a vehicle in our advertising, these are old cars and something that has always worked in the past might not function properly today.
Please check the requirements of your state regarding the licensing and registration of classic vehicles and make sure the vehicle you are looking at meets those if applicable.
Unless otherwise noted, all vehicles represented by Evergreen Digital Showroom possess a clean (non-branded) title which will be provided the new buyer when purchase funds clear our financial institution.
Virtually all our vehicles are sold as mileage exempt due to their age.
We do not warranty any vehicle, nor any part of the vehicle including air conditioning systems, brake systems, electrical systems and gauges, fuel systems, accessories or powertrain components.
These are old vehicles and it is very common for them to require certain maintenance and upkeep for them to be operational.
In many cases issues with leaks may develop when being driven after a long period of not being used.
This is common, as classic cars at some point will leak fluids.
For this reason, we do not encourage buyers to attempt driving their purchase home as we cannot guarantee functional reliability of these vehicles.
We strongly encourage prospective buyers to be sure they are comfortable with these issues before purchasing a classic car.
